Eschatons

The Eschatons were terrifying entities of immense power created by Morsvitae and Ytdarr during the War for Eternity using the tail of the Ravager. These colossal monstrosities represented some of the most devastating weapons deployed by the dark pantheon against the Omnium Theocracy, rivaling even the mighty Deipurae in raw destructive capability.

Creation and Nature

The creation of the Eschatons marked a significant escalation in the cosmic conflict. By channeling power from the Ravager's tail within the Nemither, Morsvitae and Ytdarr were able to forge two distinct entities that embodied aspects of both cosmic horror and calculated malevolence. Unlike typical aberrations, which drove mortals to madness merely by their presence, the Eschatons possessed a cold, alien intelligence that made them far more dangerous. Their very existence represented a corruption of natural law, as they could freely move between realspace and the Nemither without the need for blightzones.

The process of creating these beings required immense power and knowledge of both divine crafting and entropic forces. Morsvitae contributed her mastery over transformation and decay, while Ytdarr imbued them with cunning and purpose. The resulting entities possessed powers that could affect both the physical and metaphysical realms, making them uniquely suited to wage war against Uzhyr's forces.

The Two Eschatons

The first and perhaps most physically imposing of the Eschatons was the Harbinger Wyrm, a serpentine horror stretching miles in length. Its massive form could devour entire districts of the Omnium Theocracy, converting the consumed matter and souls into fuel for its continued rampage. The Wyrm's presence distorted local reality, causing time and space to warp around its sinuous form. Its scales were said to reflect images of those it had devoured, their faces frozen in eternal terror.

The second Eschaton, known as the Torturous One, took the form of a cosmic cephalopod whose tentacles could pierce the veil between dimensions. This entity specialized in soul-theft on a massive scale, able to tear the very essence from entire populations and transport them to the Palace of Pain for Elarus's twisted entertainment. Its tentacles could stretch across vast distances, each one capable of independent thought and action.

Battle Against the Deipurae

When the Eschatons first manifested in realspace, their arrival forced Uzhyr to make a difficult strategic decision. Recognizing the existential threat they posed, he dispatched four of his children to combat them: Didaskalion and Arkanos against the Harbinger Wyrm, while Daranea and Archimedus confronted the Torturous One.

The battles that ensued were cataclysmic in scale. During the confrontation with the Harbinger Wyrm, Didaskalion nearly lost his eye protecting a wounded Arkanos. In a display of raw power that shook the foundations of reality, Didaskalion wielded his mighty mace Magnetarium to literally tear the Wyrm apart. Meanwhile, the fight against the Torturous One proved equally costly, with Archimedus losing a hand to the creature's otherworldly powers before Daranea's precise archery finally brought it down.

Legacy and Aftermath

The defeat of the Eschatons came at a grave cost to the Deipurae, with both Didaskalion and Archimedus suffering serious injuries that temporarily diminished their combat effectiveness. However, their sacrifice prevented what could have been the complete destruction of multiple theocracy districts and the loss of countless souls to the dark pantheon.

The remains of both Eschatons were brought back to Zyon, where they continued to emanate strange energies that Uzhyr sought to harness. This led to the creation of new defensive measures and weapons for the theocracy's forces, though the exact nature of these developments remains classified in most historical records.

The emergence and defeat of the Eschatons marked a turning point in the War for Eternity, demonstrating both the escalating nature of the conflict and the lengths to which both sides would go to achieve victory. Their creation and deployment also highlighted the growing rift between Uzhyr and Morsvitae, as the latter proved willing to forge weapons capable of not just killing, but utterly destroying the souls of countless beings in their quest to overthrow the theocracy's order.
